Is 14.8 dB really that quiet?

That is the value measured by the manufacturer, quieter than a whisper (~30 dB). The larger models are 27.4 dB.

Is one unit enough for a 55 m² classroom?

The manufacturer recommends it for 40 m². For a 55 m² classroom the 60 m² model or two units are a better fit. The calculator above shows the air changes.

Does the unit switch on and off by itself?

No, it runs until you switch it off. A programmable timer is available as an option, so the unit can run only during the school day, for example. The same unit with a timer is the “Recirculator for 40 m² rooms, with timer”.

How often should the lamps be replaced?

The lamp life is 18,000 h: about 7 years on school days, about 2 years running day and night.
